Celebrating Independence Day

DecofInd

This is the day we, as citizens of the United States, celebrate our country’s independence and subsequent freedom.

On this day in 1776, The Declaration of Independence was signed by 56 very courageous men.  I believe on that hot July day in Philadelphia, these men knew what was in store for them upon inking their names on that parchment.  For most,  it did not end very well.  Signing this document was extremely costly to them. Most lost fortunes, businesses, homes, family members and some even unto death.

I believe this day celebrates the courage of those men. I often wonder how I would have handled that day.

Every country has a July 4th.  In America, we do not celebrate a specific calendar day. We celebrate the brave men who declared our independence from, at that time, the most powerful nation in the world.

This day forward, consider honoring these brave patriots by referencing this holiday as Independence Day vs. 4th of July.

  • RDA’s office will be closed this Monday to celebrate and honor the signers of our Declaration of Independence.

For you have been called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn our freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. Galatians 5:13 NASB
