Several RDA users have experienced trouble after a recent Firefox update.ย The release included an experimental feature that is turned on by default and affects 1% of all Firefox users. This new feature breaks functionality of the Firefox browser that is used in Openrda 4.0. You can read about the changes made here, they’re “the biggest change weโve ever made to Firefox”.
Everyone will need to look at the “Multiprocess Windows” status by typing in “about:support” in the address bar in Firefox and check to see if it is set to โenabledโ or โdisabledโ. If the feature is โenabledโ then proceed with the steps listed below:
- Type โabout:configโ in the address bar of Firefox
- Click the button that says โIโll be careful, I promise!โ to proceed
- In the search box near the top type โbrowser.tabs.remoteโ and double click the preference listed as โbrowser.tabs.remote.autostart.2โ. Double clicking should change the default value from true to false
- Now close out of Firefox and log back in. The change should be saved but you can double check that the setting is now disabled by going back to โabout:supportโ and confirming that it is now disabled.
This change has affected several RDA users and will likely affect many more as they slowly roll out these changes. Until Firefox corrects the issues with this new feature, the above listed steps are the way we need to proceed with resolving the issue.
Below is a step-by-step instructional video for disabling the experimental feature.
