PURGE REFERENCE NUMBERS: JOURNAL ENTRIES AND RECEIPTS

Organizations that are using the optional software bundles for managing receipt reference numbers and managing journal entry reference numbers will now see reports for purging previously created (and unused) receipt and journal entry reference numbers. These are on the Maintenance menu that is accessed from OpenRDA’s Resource bar. ??The reference number is a mechanism for grouping journal entries and/or receipts.?? Numbers can be created with a prefix (such as JE# and RC#) and then automatically assigned to journal entries and receipts as they are created. ??The fiscal year (or last 2 digits of fiscal year) should never be used as a prefix as the reference numbers are not (and cannot) be managed by fiscal year. ??Since the fiscal year is a key to the journal entry record and receipt record, it would be redundant to use the fiscal year as a prefix (as well as meaningless).
