Fraudulent Unemployment Claims Are On The Rise
The FBI warned of a spike in fraudulent unemployment claims back in July, impacting every state in the country, causing some state governments to freeze payments after finding, in some cases, hundreds of thousands of bogus claims worth millions of dollars. By taking advantage of the current high unemployment rates, criminals are able to slip the claims past overwhelmed state workers, cashing in on the likelihood that investigations will take longer in the current climate.

What can users do to protect themselves?
Change user passwords on a regular basis. This may seem like a given, but it goes without saying that not everyone does it. Secure passwords that can’t easily be guessed are a necessity in today’s world. Working from home has changed things, and while it may be a more relaxing environment, it is not the time to relax when it comes to your security.
